Jan AI

Jan is a local-first desktop AI app that can also talk to remote models through a "model engine" pointed at any OpenAI-compatible API.

Installation

  1. Go to jan.ai/download.
  2. Windows: download the installer and run it (Windows 10+, supports NVIDIA/AMD/Intel Arc GPUs).
  3. macOS: download the .dmg — note Jan only supports Apple Silicon, not Intel Macs.
  4. Linux: pick whichever package fits your distro — .AppImage, .deb, or Flatpak.
  5. Launch Jan. It downloads a small default local model on first run, but you don't need it for this — you're connecting to a remote engine instead.

Setup

  1. Open Jan → SettingsModel Providers.
  2. Add a new remote engine (OpenAI-compatible).
  3. Set the Base URL to https://api.dravenai.lat/v1.
  4. Paste your sk-drv-... key as the API key.
  5. Add your-model-id as a model id under that engine.
Menu labels move between Jan releases — if yours differs, look for "Model Providers" or "Remote Engines" in Settings.
